{October 16, 2008}   Budget crisis

McCain and Obama both know and recognize that this is the big issue for this election. Since day 1, I have known who had my vote. The last debate made it VERY clear who I am pushing for. OBAMA! The main reason… how to handle the budget crisis!

McCain tried to attack Obama because Obama admits to lowering taxes for the lower/middle class and raising taxes for those making $250k+. McCain doesn’t want to increase taxes for anyone. How does that make sense? The government needs more money to maintain programs and to balance the budget. How can a budget be balanced if you’re decreasing from one area and not increasing in another? McCain doesn’t make sense at all unless he intends on cutting more and more programs to do less with less. Not just a little less, but A LOT less!

{October 8, 2008}   Young Americans

I’m 25, but I’d like to believe that I am well informed of the things that go on in the world and that I’m pretty mature. Being that I am still in college and I work in a very young company, I’m surrounded by people that are younger than me.

I was sitting minding my own business when I overheard a VERY annoying conversation. Here’s how the conversation went:

Guy: Who are you voting for?
Girl: Obama.
Guy: Oh.
Girl: Why? Do you want McCain to win?
Guy: Yeah. Why?
Girl: You’re such a racist. Just because you’re white, you’re going to vote for the white guy.
Guy: No. That Palin chick is hot!
Girl: Well I’m just tired of old white men running our country.

The whole time, I’m sitting there biting my lips to not say anything. Seriously? What does any of that have to do with anything? I can’t stand all of the people who are finally paying attention to politics just because there’s a hot chick running for VP and a black guy running for President. It’s good that they are atleast registered to vote, but they aren’t paying attention at all to the issues!

{October 7, 2008}   Irony

It’s crazy when you look back at your life sometimes. In the moment, life is hard and sometimes unbareable, but you work through it and life goes on. It can take some time, but things do happen for a reason.

Months ago, there was a lot of drama going on with different people butting heads. Major personality and point of view clash. So I parted ways to stay out of the drama. It sucked because I ended up separating myself from friends that I enjoyed spending time with. At the time, it just sucked, but looking back at it now, I know that if all of that didn’t happen, I wouldn’t be where I am now. I am much better off now than I was months ago. I’m supporting myself, I’m dedicated to finishing school, and I am taking better care of myself. I’m not goofing around as much anymore. Things are going well.

Everything really does happen for a reason. It may be hard to see the good in things at the present time that it is occurring, but life tends to show itself in due time. Patience is the key.

{October 6, 2008}   Election 2008

So glad that the time is coming closer… to boot Bush out of office! 2 terms too long!

McCain vs Obama

The first debate really grabbed my attention. I love debates and I use the debates more than anything to decide who I want to vote for. Written publications can be misconstrued in so many ways. Too many opinions out there to get a real grasp of the real intentions of the candidates. Yes, the debates are still very much scripted, but atleast its direct from the source and not written by a 3rd party observing a scripted interview.

Well, to be straight forward, I am for Obama all the way. His agenda and logic makes complete sense! McCain’s plan to straighten up our economy makes no sense at all. Especially from a business student’s point of view. Any educated individual with any grasp of how businesses work should see exactly what I see.

Let me clarify… McCain wants to cut taxes for big businesses. His logic behind it is that the money that the businesses save by the tax cut, the big business owners will disperse to their employees or increase staffing to increase jobs. HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE? So you’re saying that you’re going to increase their profits and these rich bastards are going to think: “Hey I made so much money this year. I think I’m going to give my money away.” I don’t know about you but looking at past actions indicate to me future actions. In the pasts when the economy was great and big business was rolling in money, I didn’t see them giving money to me. Business is about MAKING MONEY! Not giving it away… unless it’ll quickly result in making more money. It’s called ROI.

Obama wants to increase taxes on the wealthy and decrease taxes on the poor and middleclass. The ‘Robin Hood’ mentality. Take from the rich, give to the poor! Makes sense to me! (Not only because this benefits me) The middleclass is a majority of this country. They are the foundation of the US economy! If the middleclass has money, they will spend money. Spending boosts our economy! When the US middleclass is broke, they don’t have money to spend, so the economy suffers. LIKE IT IS NOW!!

If anything, the economy is the most important issue to me. Healthcare is important, but it’s not as critical right now. International relations are important also. Obama wants to end the war. McCain is on Bush’s side and what’s to continue on the course of disaster and killing. Sure there have been some success in Iraq. We have oil and there’s a democracy. But is this what the Iraqi people want? Or are we forcing it down their throats? We took over Iraq and forced them to form a government like ours. That is what Bush did. We need to end this BS war and stop sending Americans to their death! Too many Americans, Iraqis, and others have died already. Enough is enough!

I am a Raider fan! Have been since I was a kid, and will always be. Helps that I was born during the good years. 1983, when the Raiders last won a SuperBowl.

Though we represent Raider Nation with pride and so much passion, we know deep inside the truth. The Raiders are not the best team in the NFL. It has been a very long time since we’ve had a winning season. Shuffling coaches, inconsistency, players with bad attitudes, bad draft decisions…. we know the root of the Raiders pitfall. 1 person to blame, 1 name we all know and hate. AL DAVIS, President of the General Partner of the Oakland Raiders.

In 2007, Davis sold a minority stake in the Raiders for $150 million and said that he would not retire until he wins two more Super Bowls. Knowing Davis, his past, and his actions in regards to the continuous coach shuffling, unfortunately, the Raiders will be disasterous until Davis is out!

Davis is old and is trying to cut the corners. To get to the Super Bowl in 2002, Davis picked up players who were already successful in the past, such as Jerry Rice, in order to get that success from them. It got them wins and boosted the ego of the team, but after the lose, and the players departed, then what? It’s short lived. That is NOT how you build a winning franchise!

The Raiders needs young players with potential and willingness to learn. We need coaches and a coaching staff that will build and develop these players to fit into a master plan. A long-term plan! Kiffen, Russell, and McFadden are assets that could fit into such a plan, but old impatient Davis killed that plan when he fired Kiffen.

Davis didn’t only fire Kiffen, but he embarassed Kiffen trashing his character. Davis showed the whole world exactly why you do NOT want to work under him. If you don’t follow Davis’ plan and give him the results that he wants, he will do whatever he needs to in order to get rid of you. Contractually, he had to spin the reasoning for firing Kiffen. Was it the truth? I don’t think so. Davis is not a dumb cookie. He knows what he’s doing…. Question is, who will want to work under him know. Cable? Who the hell is this guy? A nobody. He has nothing to lose because he was nothing anyways. That’s exactly what we’ll get out of him too. NOTHING.

I am a Raider fan since birth. It’s not easy knowing how crappy our team is as a result to ownership and management. But what can you do? I’m just waiting it out because Raider Nation is strong. We will rise again one day… once this 80 year old idiot either dies or gives up his position with the Oakland Raiders.

{October 6, 2008}   Black President, Female VP?

If Obama – Biden win the election, the US will have it’s first African-American President. If McCain-Palin win, the US will have it’s first female VP.

HOW DOES THIS MATTER AT ALL? I think it’s ridiculous when African-Americans say, “I’m going to vote for Obama because he’s black like me!” Or when women say, “Palin is a normal woman like me!” Are we not all human? Are we not all Americans?

VOTE FOR THE CANDIDATE THAT HAS YOUR BEST INTEREST IN MIND! SOMEONE THAT SHARES YOUR VALUES, YOUR GOALS, AND WILL HELP YOU SURVIVE IN THIS STRUGGLING AMERICA! VOTE THE ISSUES!
